Oyo Police Arrest Two Suspected Phone, Motorcycle Snatchers, Uncover Criminal Network

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly involved in the snatching of mobile phones and motorcycles across Oyo, Osun and Lagos states.
The suspects, identified as Timilehin Idowu, 23, and Kudus Agoeo, 25, were arrested following intelligence that led police operatives to raid a residence in the Onirerin–Mokola area of Ibadan.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly operated as a three-man gang, using a motorcycle to snatch phones and motorcycles from unsuspecting members of the public.

According to the statement, the suspects disclosed during interrogation that their activities extended beyond Ibadan to Ile-Ife in Osun State, with information suggesting that the criminal network also operated in Lagos State.

The police said the suspects had provided information about other individuals allegedly connected to the gang, including those responsible for disposing of stolen items.
The Command added that investigations were ongoing to verify the information, identify and arrest other members of the network, and recover stolen property.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigators pursue further leads to dismantle the alleged criminal network and bring all those found culpable to justice.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and the fight against criminal activities.

He also urged residents to provide credible information to assist the police in preventing and detecting crime, assuring the public that the Command would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to protect lives and property across the state.
