Bimbo Adekanbi, a frontrunner for the 2027 Oyo State governorship and widely believed to have Governor Seyi Makinde’s backing, has pledged to sustain and expand the current administration’s achievements if elected.

Adekanbi, a former state Commissioner for Finance, made the commitment during a private visit on Monday to the Music House headquarters of Fresh FM Nigeria in Ibadan, where he met with media mogul Yinka Ayefele.

The visit formed part of ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 elections.

Describing Ayefele as an elder brother and long-time mentor, Adekanbi said the visit was meant to seek guidance and blessings from the media executive, citing the role of Fresh FM in the state’s socio-economic development.

“I aim not only to consolidate Governor Makinde’s milestones but also to deepen reforms across critical sectors for sustainable growth,” Adekanbi said, adding that continuity in governance is essential to preserving the gains already recorded.

Ayefele urged the aspirant to remain committed to the developmental trajectory of the Makinde administration, stressing that Oyo residents expect performance-driven leadership and continuity rather than a reversal of progress.

“Governance is demanding. Whoever succeeds Governor Makinde must justify the trust placed in them,” Ayefele said, emphasizing accountability, courage, and sincerity.

Alhaji Abolade Salami, Group General Manager of Fresh FM, assured that the media would continue to uphold professionalism, holding leaders accountable while supporting initiatives that advance the public interest.

Also in attendance were top management and presenters of Fresh FM, including Isaac Brown and Adebayo Faleke.
