Oyo State Leads HIV/AIDS Fight Nationwide, According to NACA Director

Dr. Temitope Ilori, the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), commended the Oyo State Government for its effective strategies in combating HIV/AIDS, resulting in a decline in the disease’s prevalence within the state.

During a visit to the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Ilori praised the collaboration between the State Government and the Oyo State Agency for the Control of AIDS, citing their proactive community and media engagement initiatives such as jingles and documentaries aimed at educating the public.

Acknowledging Oyo’s commitment to the national goal of ensuring 95% of the population gets tested and receives treatment, Dr. Ilori emphasized the importance of continued partnerships to reach those most in need.

In response, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, the Commissioner for Health, highlighted the importance of individual responsibility in managing one’s health and emphasized the need for community involvement, including religious leaders, in spreading awareness.

Dr. Kehinde Ayinde, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, underscored the state’s achievements in HIV/AIDS testing and service delivery, showcasing Oyo’s leadership in the national effort.

The visit also included discussions with Dr. Gbola Adetunji, Chairman of Oyo SACA, and other state officials, reaffirming Oyo State’s dedication to curbing the spread of HIV/AIDS.
