Aleshinloye Raises Alarm Over Poor Turnout of Oyo Candidates for Army Recruitment

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) Commissioner in Oyo State, Prince Ayodeji Abass Aleshinloye, has expressed concern over the poor turnout of shortlisted candidates for the ongoing Nigerian Army recruitment screening exercise in Ibadan.
Speaking during a monitoring visit to the screening centre at the 2nd Mechanized Division, Adekunle Fajuyi Military Cantonment, Ibadan, Aleshinloye said only 472 out of the 941 shortlisted applicants from Oyo State reported for screening.

According to him, the number of shortlisted candidates from the state was already low, making the poor attendance even more disappointing.
He also revealed that many candidates who attended the exercise failed to come with their original credentials, while others had errors in their documents.
He warned that applicants who do not provide the required documents may be disqualified from the recruitment process.
The FCC Commissioner advised affected candidates to quickly correct any issues with their documents and work with their parents or guardians to obtain the necessary original certificates and identification documents.

Aleshinloye called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, local government chairmen, and other community stakeholders to help spread information about recruitment opportunities to young people across the state.
He stressed the importance of taking advantage of opportunities provided by the federal government, noting that agencies work to ensure fairness and equal representation for all states during recruitment exercises.
“When opportunities are made available, applicants must also play their part by showing up and meeting all the requirements,” he said.

He urged Oyo youths to be more proactive and participate fully in future military, paramilitary, and police recruitment exercises to avoid missing valuable career opportunities.
