Adekanmbi Promises Better Welfare, Capacity Development for Oyo Civil Servants
Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi has pledged to promote improved welfare, professional development and efficient service delivery in the Oyo State Civil Service.
Adekanmbi made the pledge on Monday, October 19, 2026, during an engagement with directors, general managers, permanent secretaries and other senior civil servants at the Local Government Service Commission Teaching Hall, Oyo State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
He emphasised the need to strengthen staff capacity, improve working conditions, encourage innovation and institutionalise merit-based assessments to enhance productivity across the service.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for civil servants to highlight challenges affecting their welfare and operational efficiency.
Among their requests were the restoration of transport services through petrol-powered buses, increased access to international training programmes and the provision of official vehicles to ministries, departments and agencies, particularly those operating in remote and zonal locations.
They also called for improved mobility for general managers and Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) officials, as well as the establishment of a recreational centre within the government secretariat to promote relaxation, sporting activities and staff well-being.
Some directors recalled Adekanmbi’s previous engagements with the civil service during his tenure as Deputy Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Finance, describing him as someone who valued hard work, recognised merit and supported the professional development of civil servants.
In his remarks, Adekanmbi stressed the importance of sustained communication between leadership and public servants to identify challenges, address operational bottlenecks and improve government performance.
He maintained that a motivated, adequately equipped and professionally developed workforce was essential to effective governance and accelerated development in Oyo State.
The engagement highlighted the need for stronger collaboration between leadership and civil servants to build a responsive and productive public service capable of translating government policies into tangible benefits for residents.
