Ibadan Indigenous Medical Practitioners Establish Global Association to Develop Healthcare, Ibadanland -

Medical practitioners of Ibadan origin in Nigeria and across the world have established the Federation of Ibadan Indigenes Medical Practitioners to promote professional excellence and contribute to healthcare and the development of Ibadanland.

In a statement by the Coordinator of the federation, Dr. Wale Falana, the organisation held its inaugural meeting on Saturday at Iris Gold Hotel, Iyana Anfani, Ibadan, in a hybrid format, with members participating physically and virtually from different parts of the world.

The initiative was convened by the Aare Baasegun of Ibadanland, Dr. Gbola Adetunji, as part of efforts to fulfil the objectives associated with his chieftaincy title.

A former Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. B.V.A. Bello, alongside other prominent medical practitioners and personalities, attended the meeting physically, while members across various continents participated virtually.
The federation will focus on healthcare development, mentorship, medical education and research, professional excellence, humanitarian services, community development and strategic partnerships.

Its leadership said the body would complement, rather than compete with, existing professional associations by creating a platform for practitioners across specialties, generations and geographical boundaries.

The federation also seeks to promote knowledge exchange and mentorship while mobilising the collective expertise of Ibadan medical professionals worldwide for the advancement of Ibadanland.
