Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide sponsored Bill to Elevate College of Agriculture, Ibadan to Federal University of Technology Passes Second Reading in House of Representatives.
A bill aiming to upgrade the College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan to the status of a Federal University of Technology has successfully passed its second reading in the House of Representatives.
Sponsored by Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, the proposed legislation seeks to enhance the quality of education in agriculture and related fields, thereby promoting food security and economic growth in Nigeria.
Established in 1964 as a research center, the College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, located in Apata, Ibadan, Oyo State, has grown into a well-regarded institution in the field of agriculture.
Hon. Olajide emphasized, “The upgrade will enhance the institution’s capacity to produce high-level manpower in agriculture, technology, and other related fields.”
The bill has garnered widespread support from various stakeholders, including academia, farmers, and experts in agriculture, who believe it will transform the training and production of agricultural manpower in Nigeria.
Once enacted, the bill is expected to mark a significant milestone in Nigeria’s agricultural development, leading to improved food security and economic advancement.
Hon. Olajide (Odidiomo) also assured that he will work to ensure the Federal Government provides adequate funding and infrastructure for the university’s smooth launch.
