The Oyo State Government officially confers the Instrument of Office upon six traditional rulers.

The Oyo State Government presented the Instrument of Office to six traditional rulers in the Oke-Ogun axis of the state on Thursday and Friday.

The newly installed traditional rulers appointed by the Oyo State government are Chief Oyelowo Joseph Oyetunde (Apeerin of Saki), Prince James Okanlawon Adigun (Lasigbon-Kinnikinni of Saki), Alhaji Jimoh Adeola Ayiki (Baale Oke-Oro), Alhaji Raimi Aiki Boorepo (Baale-Iya of Saki), Oba Abiodun Oyerinde Owolabi (Onibise of Ibise-Otu), and Chief Thomas Opoola Olaore (Baale of Komu).

During the presentation of the staff of Office, Governor Seyi Makinde urged the new traditional rulers to collaborate with their subjects for the development of Oke-Ogun. The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, also emphasized the importance of being accommodative, tolerant, and diligent in their administration. He highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing issues of insecurity, land grabbing, and illegal mining in the region.

Governor Makinde stressed the collective responsibility of ensuring the security of lives and properties, urging residents to report any suspicious activities. He expressed the government’s recognition of the significance of the traditional institution, emphasizing its priority in the scheme of things.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, E-signed the statement, with the Executive Chairman of Saki West Local Government and Itesiwaju Local Government Chairman expressing gratitude to Governor Makinde for considering their local government in the installation of the traditional rulers. They acknowledged the vital role of traditional institutions in ensuring security and urged the rulers to collaborate with the government in addressing challenges such as banditry, kidnapping, and cattle rustling.
