The Oyo State Government has firmly ruled out any extension of the 2023 tax returns deadline. -

The Oyo State Internal Revenue Service (OYIRS) has issued a stern warning against any extension of the deadline for filing the 2023 annual tax returns. The Executive Chairman, Mr. Adebowale Olufemi Awakan, emphasized this caution in an official release from his office.

Employers of labor, company owners, or their representatives have been specifically cautioned to ensure the submission of their 2023 Annual Tax Returns by January 31st, 2024. Awakan reiterated that the filing of tax returns is a legal requirement that all employers of labor must adhere to.

Non-compliance with this directive will result in penalties, including a fine of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (500,000.00) for corporate bodies. Individuals, on the other hand, are granted until March 31st, 2024, to complete the filing of their returns through Direct Assessment, with penalties applying for non-compliance.

All tax returns are expected to be submitted online through the self-service platform. Employers and individuals are urged to visit www.selfservice.oyostate.com for the online filing of their returns.
