Police Service Commission Approves Appointment and Deployment of 10 State Command Commissioners of Police.
In a recent development, the Police Service Commission has greenlit the appointment and deployment of Commissioners of Police to oversee operations in 10 State Commands across the federation.
This was contained in a release issued by the Head of Press and Public Relations in the Commission Ikechukwu Ani who said this significant decision follows closely on the heels of the promotion of 14 Deputy Commissioners of Police, elevating them to the substantive rank of Commissioners. The newly appointed State Commissioners of Police bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their respective roles.
Notable appointments include Peter Ukachi Opara, former Deputy Commissioner of Administration in Imo State, who has been strategically posted to Osun State. Similarly, Olugbemiga Emmanuel Adesina is set to take charge in Benue State, Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, mni, will lead the Ekiti State Command, and Mohammed Umar Abba assumes responsibility for Adamawa State Command.
CP Beneth Igwe mni, who once served as DCP, OPs in the FCT Command, makes a return to the Federal Capital Territory Command as the Commissioner in charge. Abaniwonda Surajudeen Olufemi, formerly of CP Force Secretary’s office, now takes on the role of overseeing operations in Delta State Command. Akwa Ibom State Command will be under the leadership of Ademola Waheed Ayilara, former DCP State CID Lagos Command, while David Iloyanomon, formerly DCP Administration in Anambra State Command, is now at the helm of affairs in Taraba State Command. Abayomi Oladipo Peter has assumed control of Ondo State Command, and Hassan Abdu Yabnet is now the Commissioner of Plateau State Command.
Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR, retired Inspector General of Police and Chairman of the Police Service Commission, addressed the newly appointed Command Commissioners during the official announcement. Dr. Arase emphasized the pivotal role they play in rebuilding public trust through robust partnerships with the community. He sternly warned that the Commission would not entertain any excuses for failure to provide effective and efficient leadership.
While assuring continued support from the Commission, Dr. Arase issued a cautionary note, emphasizing that the security of lives and properties within their areas of jurisdiction should not be taken for granted.
