The Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has urged parents to place greater confidence in public education.

Olufade made the call on Thursday during the Catch Them Young Initiative Campaign held at Seventh-day Adventist Primary School 1 and 2, Agodi, Ibadan.

He noted that the era of poor administration in public schools has been redefined under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde since 2019 in Oyo State.

The council chairman added that basic education in the state reflects the progressive vision of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo in expanding access to quality education.

Olufade commended the Makinde administration for providing teachers with necessary instructional materials and infrastructure, as well as ensuring prompt payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities, which he described as unprecedented.

While advocating stronger cooperation from parents in enrolling their children in public schools, he assured that the sector would continue to witness improvements capable of making pupils globally competitive.

In her remarks, the Chief Coordinator of the Catch Them Young Initiative and Bright Lens Media Networks, Ayodeni Aluko, urged the pupils to remain focused and hardworking in pursuit of their dreams.
