Oyo launches whistleblower platform to report environmental concerns.

Oyo State Government has launched an environmental whistleblower platform aimed at promoting a cleaner and healthier environment, with reward to residents who report environmental violations across the state.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Professor Musibau Babatunde who unveiled the programme at the state secretariat, explained that with a reward system attached to the innovation, the new environmental initiative would truly revolutionalize the state and tackle environmental challenges.
While cautioning residents to desist from indiscriminate dump of refuse in the state, the SSG noted that the state government has procured additional waste trucks, improved refuse collection systems, and established structured dumping sites, adding that the new platform would enable residents to report environmental concerns through multiple channels and ensure real-time response.
In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Ademola Aderinto, emphasized that the initiative goes beyond sanitation to promoting environmental responsibility and orderliness.
Earlier in his remarks, the State Lead Consultant on Informal Sector, Mr. Olabode Ajetunmobi, described the framework as straightforward and citizen-driven with dedicated monitoring teams and voluntary citizen reporting.
