Oyo civil servants to hold inter-faith prayer for New Year 2026

As a yearly tradition, civil and public servants in Oyo state would hold a special inter-faith service next Monday 12th, January, 2026 to user in the year 2026

The special inter-faith service which usually involves political functionaries in the state, is an avenue of thanksgiving accompanied with songs and dances of gratitude from Christian, Muslim and Traditional religious faithfuls to herald the commencement of a new year.

According to a circular signed by the Permanent Secretary, (service matters) Mr Mustapha on behalf of the Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, all heads of ministeries, department and agencies (MDA)s are to mobilize their staff to attend as a matter of duty.

The circular forward noted “I wish to inform you that His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, FNSE, D.Sc, GSSRS, has graciously approved the holdiig of the Year 2026 Inter-Faith Prayer Session to usher in
the New Year on Monday, 12th January, 2026, at the Open Space behind the Oyo State
House of Assembly Complex, Secretariat, Ibadan, commencing at 10:00 am

In view af the foregoing, all Civil/Public Servants as well as all Political Functionaries
are invited to atternd the occasion. You are requested to be seated at the venue by 9:00am”

The statement also harped on the cooperation of all public and civil servants towards the successful conduct of the programme.
