Makinde hosts inter-faith service to usher civil servants into 2026; calls for vigilance and security alertness.

Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde has implored residents of the state to be vigilant and security conscious as the year progresses, promising that his administration would always play its part in securing lives and properties.
The Governor who stated this when addressing public and civil servants during an interfaith service to usher in the New Year, urged them to reflect and do things differently to make the New Year better and different.
Governor’s office correspondent David Bello reports that the yearly practise is to usher in the New Year, creating an atmosphere for public and civil servants in the state to come together to offer thanksgiving to God for his divine benevolence in the previous year and render supplications for a prosperous New Year.
The atmosphere as expected for the 2026 inter-faith service was filled with various songs of praises across the three major religions in the country.
Sermons and admonitions from Muslim, Christian and Ifa clerics were also offered to inspire the workers into the New Year
In his address at this year’s interfaith service, Governor Seyi Makinde acknowledged that the success of his administration is as a result of collective effort and appeal for more cooperation, noting that 2025 promotion for civil and public servants would be signed shortly and improved salary structure for Head of Local Government Administration (HLA)s.
While urging them to reflect and do things differently this year for a productive and rewarding 2026, Makinde stressed on the need for vigilance with assurances that his administration would play its part for a more secured state.
Earlier in her welcome address, the head of service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni applauds Governor Makinde for his workers friendly policies and charges the workers to remain diligent and committed to their responsibilities.
Goodwill messages were also presented from the Speaker, the Chief judge, Secretary to the State Government and Labour leaders.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of a white horse to the Governor by members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners for being a pensioner friendly Governor.
