International Women’s Day 2026: Oyo NAWOJ Celebrates Women, Demands Greater Inclusion in Leadership

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Oyo State Chapter, extends its warmest felicitations to the resilient and industrious women of Oyo State and Nigeria at large on the occasion of the 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD).

This year’s global theme, “Give to Gain,” which emphasizes accelerating progress through economic empowerment, resonates deeply with the current realities of the Nigerian woman.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairperson of the Association, Comrade Omolola Alamu, and the Secretary, Eniola Adeaga, Oyo NAWOJ celebrates the trailblazing women in agriculture, technology, governance, and the informal sector who continue to serve as the backbone of the state’s economy.

While recognizing the strength of the Pacesetter Woman, Oyo NAWOJ notes that the Nigerian woman remains a symbol of unparalleled resilience.

The Oyo NAWOJ Chairperson explains that in Oyo State, from the vibrant markets of Dugbe to the high-tech hubs in Bodija, women are breaking barriers and redefining possibilities.

The statement adds that the Association does not only celebrate how far women have come, but also demands a seat at every table where the future of the nation is being decided.
The Association’s Chairperson also salutes female colleagues in the media who work tirelessly to give a voice to the voiceless.

As women mark this milestone, Oyo NAWOJ promises to remain committed to using the power of the pen to advocate for the rights, visibility, and advancement of women in society.
