Ibadan Stands Still as CCII President-General, Ajewole, Receives Prestigious Award.

The city of Ibadan came to a standstill on October 3, 2024, as Chief Barr. Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), was honored with the esteemed “Omo Ibadan To Peregede Julo” award. This prestigious recognition, translating to “the most distinguished child of Ibadan,” was presented by the Southern Women Empowerment Forum at Jogor Centre.

The event drew dignitaries from diverse sectors, underscoring the immense respect and admiration Chief Ajewole commands. Thousands of women supported by the empowerment group attended, creating an electric atmosphere of gratitude and celebration. Dr. Helen Taiwo Adebakin, National President of the organization, praised Ajewole’s leadership, noting his positive impact on Ibadan’s socio-economic landscape, making him an exemplary role model.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Ajewole dedicated the award to Ibadan’s indigenes and his team, expressing deep gratitude for the recognition. He acknowledged the Southern Women Empowerment Forum’s tireless efforts in empowering women and promoting economic development. Ajewole reaffirmed his commitment to Ibadan’s continued growth and prosperity, pledging to strive for the betterment of the city.

As the President-General of CCII, Ajewole has been instrumental in promoting Ibadan’s socio-cultural and economic development. Under his leadership, the CCII has undertaken various initiatives, including the construction of the Olubadan Palace and Ibadan House, and advocacy for the creation of Ibadan State ¹.
