Empowering Women to Fight Breast Cancer: Ilu’binrin Highlights Awareness, Early Detection, and Support for Survivors.

As the world observes Pink October, the month dedicated to breast cancer awareness, women are urged to prioritize their health, as early detection is key to defeating cancer.

On the all-female weekly program Ilubinrin on Splash FM 105.5, Mrs. Adesope Adebunmi Ajibola, a clinic officer and sexual reproductive health expert with the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria, shared insights on self-examinations and encouraged women over 40 to undergo yearly mammograms.

She emphasized the importance of supporting fellow women battling cancer and embracing survivors with friendship and acceptance to counter the stigma surrounding the disease.

Mrs. Adesope further encouraged survivors to speak openly about their journey, inspiring other women to be proactive about their health.

Temilade Aloko, the program’s anchor, also commemorated the month by reflecting on her late mother’s battle with breast cancer, sharing the challenges of caregiving and the importance of awareness and early detection.

She extended heartfelt remembrance to those who have lost their lives and offered well-wishes to those currently undergoing treatment.

October, known as “Pink October,” has been globally recognized since the 1980s as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is marked by the display of pink ribbons as a symbol of solidarity, reminding all of the importance of prevention and routine screening for early diagnosis.
