Consolidation Team kicks-off Oyo NUJ 2025 campaign at Federal Information Chapel

The Consolidation Team campaigning for Sola Oladapo as Chairman of NUJ Oyo State Council in the 2025 elections, has commenced its campaign with a visit to the Federal Ministry of Information, Federal Secretariat, Ikolaba, Ibadan, on Monday, 24 November, 2025.
The team, led by chairmanship aspirant Olusola Oladapo, used the visit to outline its agenda for the union if voted into office come December 9, 2025.
Oladapo said he was prepared for the job and had structured his vision around three key pillars: Training and retraining; improved welfare, and the establishment of a vibrant cooperative society for members of Oyo NUJ.
Oladapo stressed the urgent need for professional development, noting that many journalists had not undergone any formal training since leaving school.

He explained that the current information and technology era demanded up-to-date skills and promised that, if elected, his administration would ensure quarterly capacity-building programmes for all members of the state council.
On welfare, Oladapo expressed concern that NUJ members, despite being professionals, were not adequately regarded and remunerated, and pledged that he would make members’ welfare a top priority.
“We know the job, having risen through the ranks. We are prepared for this job because we know where the shoe pinches. Nothing compares to experience. We are ready to fight for better conditions with every ounce of our strength,” he said.

Oladapo also spoke on the creation of a mega cooperative society for Oyo NUJ members, and explained that the proposed cooperative society would be properly managed to generate substantial revenue for the Union and serve as a financial safety net to members by allowing them to access funds at reasonable interest rates whenever the need arises.
