CCII Urges Event Organizers to Prioritize Safety After Ibadan Stampede.
The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has advised event organisers to always ensure safety and security measures are in place to avoid loss of lives.
This call came after a tragic stampede during a children’s carnival in Ibadan on Wednesday, which led to the death of several children and left many injured. The injured are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals.
The event, held at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, was organised by Naomi Silekunola, a former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
In a statement signed by its President-General, Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, and shared through the group’s Publicity Secretary, Kola Olomide, CCII stressed the importance of proper planning to prevent such tragedies.
Chief Ajewole also expressed sympathy for the victims and their families.
