Accord Chieftain Predicts Adeleke’s Defeat at Osun Polls, Says Court Battle May Seal His Fate -

A chieftain of the Accord Party, Prof. Chris Imumolen, has advised the people of Osun State not to waste their votes on Governor Ademola Adeleke, insisting that the governor’s political future faces defeat either at the polls or through ongoing legal proceedings over the leadership crisis within the Accord Party.

Imumolen, who is the factional National Chairman of the Accord Party, expressed confidence that Adeleke would not emerge victorious in the forthcoming Osun governorship election, stating that the governor lacks the political strength to secure victory at the ballot.

Beyond the electoral contest, the Accord factional leader argued that even if Adeleke manages to win the election, the ongoing leadership dispute within the party could still have far-reaching consequences for his political future.

He said the legal battle over the leadership of the Accord Party before the Federal High Court in Abuja was progressing favourably and expressed optimism that the outcome would vindicate his faction.

“We are expecting victory in the judgment very soon,” Imumolen said.

The dispute, which involves rival factions laying claim to the leadership structure of the party, followed proceedings at the Court of Appeal and has now returned to the Federal High Court in Abuja for further determination.

According to Imumolen, the matter goes beyond an internal party disagreement, as it borders on the legitimacy of the party’s leadership and the authority of the recognised structure to exercise control over the party’s affairs.

He maintained that the outcome of the case could have significant political implications, arguing that Adeleke’s prospects are tied not only to the outcome of the election but also to the resolution of the legal battle.

“If Adeleke loses at the polls, the people of Osun State would have made their decision. But even if he wins, the Accord leadership case could still determine his political fate,” he said.

The Accord chieftain urged voters in Osun State to consider the broader political and legal issues surrounding the election, insisting that the contest extends beyond campaign promises and electoral activities.

Imumolen and his supporters remain confident that the court process will affirm their claim to the leadership of the Accord Party and produce consequences for Adeleke’s political future.

As political activities ahead of the Osun governorship election intensify, all eyes remain on both the ballot and the courtroom, where competing interests continue to seek control and influence.
