Asamu Ewe Premieres Today at 7pm as Ahondiwura Launches Yoruba Children’s Game Show to Preserve Culture

Asamu Ewe is a Yoruba children’s game show carefully designed to educate, entertain, and instill cultural pride in young minds, while reinforcing the values, language, and identity of the Yoruba race.
The owner and publisher of Ahondiwura Studios, Temilade Aloko, popularly known as Ahondiwura, is a seasoned broadcaster with Oyo State’s first private radio station, Splash FM, where she is widely celebrated for her acclaimed cultural programme, Okebadan.
Speaking on the premiere, Temilade described Asamu Ewe as a dream fulfilled after years of nurturing the idea. She revealed that the concept had lived in her heart for a long time but was delayed by financial challenges, adding that today’s premiere at 7:00pm represents resilience, passion, and commitment to cultural heritage.

According to her, the inspiration behind the game show stems from her deep love for the Yoruba language and her growing concern about its gradual decline. She lamented that many parents now equate success solely with fluency in English, often neglecting the importance of the mother tongue, despite its richness and beauty.
She further highlighted the irony that children born and raised in countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom often speak fluent Yoruba at home, while many children living in Nigeria struggle with the language.
Temilade clarified that Asamu Ewe is not a competition to determine which child speaks the best Yoruba. Rather, it is a nurturing platform created to encourage children to embrace the language as part of their identity. No child is mocked or discriminated against on the show; instead, every participant is supported and encouraged to improve.

She disclosed that beyond the educational gifts presented to the children, each participant receives a certificate of participation, introduced to strengthen their sense of belonging, confidence, and pride.
The broadcaster called on individuals, organizations, NGOs, corporate bodies, philanthropists, and cultural enthusiasts at home and in the diaspora to support the project, describing Asamu Ewe as a programme that has come to stay.
The first episode of Asamu Ewe premieres today at 7:00pm on the Ahondiwura Studios YouTube channel, and viewers are encouraged to subscribe, watch, and support the initiative via this link : https://www.youtube.com/@Ahondiwurastudios
