Ahondiwura Champions Yoruba Language with Children’s Game Show Asamu Ewe

Ahondiwura Studios is set to premiere a long-awaited and highly anticipated children’s programme on its YouTube channel titled Asamu Ewe. The show is a Yoruba children’s game show created to promote and preserve the rich culture and language of the Yoruba race.

The owner and publisher of Ahondiwura Studios, Temilade Aloko, popularly known as Ahondiwura, is a prominent broadcaster with Oyo State’s first private radio station, Splash FM, where she is widely known for her cultural programme Okebadan.

Speaking on the project, Temilade described Asamu Ewe as a dream come true. She explained that the idea had been in her heart for a long time but was delayed due to financial challenges.

According to her, the inspiration for the game show came from her deep passion for the Yoruba language. She expressed concern that, despite how sweet and beautiful the language is, it is gradually going into extinction. She noted that many parents now believe their children can only succeed in life if they speak English, while their mother tongue is being neglected.

She also pointed out the irony that children born and raised in countries like the United States and the United Kingdom often speak fluent Yoruba at home, while many children living in Nigeria struggle with the language.

Temilade explained that Asamu Ewe is not a competition to determine who speaks the best Yoruba. Rather, it is a platform designed to encourage children to embrace the language as part of their identity. She added that if a child comes on the show and does not perform well, the experience motivates the child to want to improve. She emphasized that no child is mocked or discriminated against on the show; instead, every child is supported and encouraged to do better.

She further revealed that, apart from the educational gifts given to the children, each participant also receives a certificate of participation, aimed at giving them a strong sense of belonging and pride in taking part in the programme.

The broadcaster therefore called on individuals and organizations who are passionate about Yoruba culture to partner with Ahondiwura Studios. She also appealed to philanthropists, companies, NGOs, and well-meaning Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to support the project, describing Asamu Ewe as a programme that has come to stay.

The first episode of Asamu Ewe will premiere on Saturday, 20th December, on the Ahondiwura Studios YouTube channel. She encouraged all lovers of Yoruba culture to subscribe and support the initiative.

Apart from Asamu Ewe, Ahondiwura Studios also produces other culturally rich content such as Alo Pẹlu Ahondiwura and Okebadan, all aimed at promoting Yoruba history, values, and storytelling.

Temilade stated that she is readily available for partnerships and collaborations. Interested partners can reach her via email at nanatem79@gmail.com or via WhatsApp on 09032846234.
