Women Are Taking Charge of Their Sexuality: Expert Urges Couples to Embrace Open Conversations to Prevent Infidelity.

In recent years, women have become increasingly vocal about their sexual desires, with some feeling justified in seeking fulfillment outside their marriage when their needs are unmet. This shift in women’s approach to their sexuality was discussed in-depth by Mrs. Abimbola Elizabeth, a certified marriage counselor, during her appearance on Ilubinrin, a popular women’s flagship program on Splash FM 105.5.

Mrs. Elizabeth, who also serves as the Regional Coordinator for the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria, South-West, emphasized the importance of sexual communication in marriage. According to her, “It is time for our society to recognize that women today are more aware of their sexuality than ever before. Unlike in the past, women now understand that their bodies matter, and they are more open to exploring their sexual lives.”

The episode, anchored by the charismatic Temilade Aloko, tackled the topic “Understanding Changes in Women’s Sexuality and Addressing the Rise of Extramarital Affairs Among Married Women.” Mrs. Elizabeth highlighted poverty as a major driver of infidelity among women, explaining that financial struggles push some married women to seek external relationships as a means of survival, especially when their partners fail to meet their needs.

She further pointed out that a lack of open dialogue about sexual desires and frustrations can lead to resentment and dissatisfaction. “If a woman feels unable to express her needs or faces rejection from her partner, she may be tempted to look for someone who is more attentive,” she noted.

Additionally, Mrs. Elizabeth explored the impact of hormonal changes and libido fluctuations after childbirth, which can affect a woman’s sexual desire. “Some women may experience a drop in libido, while others may find an increased desire for intimacy,” she explained.

To counter the rising trend of extramarital affairs, she advised couples to treat sex as an integral part of their marriage, emphasizing that it is a fundamental right and obligation for both partners to enjoy. She provided actionable solutions to reignite passion and intimacy in marriage, such as open communication, spending quality time together, seeking professional help, and rekindling romance to strengthen their bond.

Listeners were encouraged to embrace these strategies to cultivate a healthier and more fulfilling marital relationship. Mrs. Elizabeth concluded by warning of the dangers of infidelity, such as sexually transmitted diseases, urging couples to prioritize their sexual connection within their marriage.
