2027: Rep. Olajide Declares Makinde PDP’s Best Bet Against Tinubu.

The federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency of Oyo State, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide (Odidiomo), has declared that he will personally purchase the Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to contest the 2027 presidential primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Olajide, a two-term PDP lawmaker and Chairman of the House Committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology and Cybersecurity, made this known through his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, while addressing journalists in Abuja on the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections.
He argued that with the PDP zoning its presidential ticket to the South-West, Makinde remains the most credible and prepared candidate to lead the opposition party to victory.
“Governor Seyi Makinde must take a shot at the presidency in 2027. He does not have a choice. He has the education, political experience, corporate background, international exposure, mental capacity and, above all, a sterling record of performance as a two-term governor of Oyo State. He is the new face of Nigerian politics,” Olajide said.
The lawmaker emphasized that Makinde’s governance style, which balances infrastructure with social welfare, has earned him recognition nationwide and positioned him as the natural choice to lead the PDP. He stressed that Makinde’s growing influence within the party and across Nigeria’s political space makes him the strongest contender from the South-West.
“In the entire South-West, Makinde is the major force that can face Tinubu. His political network cuts across party lines, and I can assure Nigerians that many political parties will collapse their structures into one for him to send the APC out of Aso Rock,” he added.
Olajide further maintained that Makinde’s emergence as the PDP presidential candidate would not only fulfill the vision of the party’s founding fathers but also usher in a new era of competent, inclusive, and visionary leadership.
He called on Makinde to formally declare his presidential ambition, describing him as the first Oyo State indigene positioned to become President of Nigeria and urging him to heed the call of history.
